EDLI SHOULD BE CALCULATED ON THE TOTAL WAGES ON WHICH 12% IS CONTRIBUTED BY THE EMPLOYER. FOR EXG. SAY EPF CONTRIBUTION SALARY IS RS. 5,00,000/- LACS P.M., THEN EDLI WOULD BE @ 0.5% ON RS. 5,00,000/- WHICH IS EQUAL TO RS. 2,500/-P.M. hOWEVER TOTAL GROSS MAY BE MORE THAN RS.5,00,000/- ALSO.P.M.

Dear Sravan,
EDLI contribution is on salary up to ceiling (at present ceiling salary is Rs. 15000). There is no need to contribute to beyond ceiling limit. Compensation is limited on ceiling salary.
