Dear Jeroo,
When I was searching for the online leave application, I got the reference of OrangeHRM. When I installed it on my machine with the help of my System Admin, I received the username and password for the same.
We can add employees' detailed information in the application; we can even assign leave to a particular employee. Every employee will have his username and password from where he can apply for leave. The application reaches the line manager and HR as well, but the only difficulty is that when a line manager approves or unapproves leave, HR does not receive a reply. Even if an employee had applied for a two-day leave and later wants to cancel one out of two, HR cannot deduct the same from the leave balance; we can only add one more leave to the balance. To do so, at least we should have a remark that explains the reason behind the addition, which would be useful for future reference. However, there is no remark facility available.
Due to the two major issues, I decided not to use the software. However, if you look at the first section, Employee Information, it's wonderful. We can store every other piece of information about an employee there.

• Type http://www.orangehrm.com in your internet explore.
• Click on Download.
• Click on Latest File Releases/stable which is released on 30th Oct 07.
• Click on orangehrm-2.2.2.tar.gz (the software works fast on Linux platform than windows so contact your system admin to install Linux on your m/c)
• Now go back on home page you will find Support and Services tab below download click on the same and follow the instruction for installation.
I would suggest take a help of your system admin to install this software as it requires some more installation. Once you will go step by step you will even get the username and password for the software.
Good News: as in my last mail I mentioned about the drawback of the software, there are no more now. They enhanced the software with the time and leave modules.
So download the software and work faster than ever before.

I would like to update you on the following things which I found over the internet. Though Orange HRM is free and open source, there are lots of hidden charges. I have done a comparative study of 2 software. Please have a look at it. If you want some more info, please feel free to contact me.
COST INVOLVED IN ORANGE HRM
1. Basic Support = $50 per month, which means $600 per year
Note: Basic Support includes support only through emails, with a response time of up to 5 days.
2. Complete Support Service including training = $2000 per year
3. Hosted Service = $50 per month, which means $600 per year
4. LDAP Feature = $99
5. Export Reports = $50
Total cost involved in these basic features for one year:
(2000 + 600 + 99 + 50) = $2749, which means Rs. 123,705
