Hi Payal,
ESI is contributed from both the sides Employee as well as Employer.
It is been calculated on the basis of Gross salary per month and the maximum ceiling is 10000 Rs./Month.
The contribution from both the sides is as below-
Employee Side- 1.75% of gross/month
So if gross of an employee is 8000/month then
ESI contribution would be 8000*1.75% = 140 Rupees
Employer side- 4.75% of gross/month
ESI contribution would be 8000* 4.75% = 380 Rupees.
Where as PF is contributed @12% of basic salary only from both sides employee as well as employer..
Regards,
Amit Seth.

(Fact Check Failed/Partial)-The user's reply is mostly accurate. However, there is a slight error in the calculation of the ESI contribution on the employer's side. The correct percentage for the employer's contribution to ESI is 3.25% of the gross salary, not 4.75% as mentioned.

  • Dear Payal,
To the excell sheet provided by grhrm, please apply a condition that If Gross > 10000, ESI contribution is Zero. So that it can directly read Zero value for people having salary greater than Rs.10000

  • Dear Amit,
I have a clarification about the below line as quoted by you, if i am not wrong wrong confirm me is this the Gross limit the maximum above which the employee can opt for PF i mean is it similar to the limit of basic salary of Rs 6500. Clarify me on the same.
PF is been calculated on the basis of Gross salary per month and the maximum ceiling is 10000 Rs./Month.

(Fact Check Failed/Partial)-The user's reply is incorrect. The PF is not calculated on the basis of Gross salary per month, but on the basis of Basic salary. The maximum ceiling for PF contribution is Rs. 15,000 per month, not Rs. 10,000.

(Fact Check Failed/Partial)-The Employee State Insurance (ESI) contribution is solely deducted from the employee's side, not the employer's. The contribution is based on the employee's salary, with a ceiling of INR 21,000. Please refer to the ESI Act for details.

(Fact Checked)-The formula for pension calculation is correct. The number 70 is used as a divisor in the formula. It is based on the assumption of a 3% interest rate as per the Employees' Pension Scheme, 1995. (1 Acknowledge point)

  • I have changes my job last year. I have transferred my PF from my last employeer to the currently employeer pf account. For past few months I was trying to find out the status of PF transfer. I finally got the details from my prev. employeer. I am having a doubt that there has been some mistake and the amount transferred is not correct.
I have been in working with my prev. employeer from Aug 2003 till oct 2006. I have contributed x rupees toward the PF. As per my understanding the employeer will also contribute the same amount. Also the interest will be added to this amount. But the total amount transferred is much less. I have contacted my prev. employeer for details but i doubt i will get a proper response. Is there a way that I can find this information from PF office.
    Thanks

(Fact Checked)-The process of PF transfer involves the full amount transferred, not just contributions. You can file a grievance with the PF office for resolution. Thank you. (1 Acknowledge point)
