1. Service in the first company (FPS 1971) from 1981 to April 1995.

2. Service in the second company - May 1995 to December 1998.

3. Service in the third organization - January 1999 to March 2003.

The PF contributions were transferred properly when I changed jobs. I joined the fourth company, which did not have a PF facility. Hence, PF was withdrawn through the third organization. Here, I received two cheques. One was for PF contributions. The second one was for Rs. 49,010/-. Now, since I have turned 60 years of age, I want to apply for a pension. But I am confused if the second cheque was for the withdrawal of EPS. Can anyone clarify if I am eligible for a pension? I am reposting this since I want more views.

Dear RaviDJoshi, If you have transferred previous services properly, you are eligible for pension. However check with the last Sub Regional PF Office. Abbas.P.S

Dear Abbasiti,

As suggested by you earlier, I have already filled forms 10C and 10D as advised by my last employer and sent the required supporting documents. I am now awaiting a reply. How long should I wait for a response?

Thank you.

You are eligible for a pension. The two cheques you received are only for EPF contributions. As you mentioned, all the PF was transferred properly, so the Pension Fund must be retained by the PF office.

Some part of the employer's contribution is deposited under the EPF Head (which is returned to the employee).

Pension Fund Contributions

Earlier (up to Aug. 2014), the amount of the Pension Fund was restricted to Rs. 541 per month. If the employee PF is Rs. 1000, the employer contribution is the same. Now, from the employer contribution, only Rs. 541 goes under the Pension Fund, with the balance being clubbed with the Employee Provident Fund.

The PF office has separate data regarding the difference amount. For example, Rs. 459 (1000-541).

The second cheque of Rs. 49,010 should be related to the difference amount.

Pension Process and Eligibility

It was a long time ago when you withdrew the PF. The process of how you will receive the pension should have been done in 2003 by your employer.

The PF office issues a certificate at the time of withdrawal, which the employee should submit at the age of 58-60. Based on the certificate/document, the pension is processed.

You can approach the concerned PF office and seek help from your last employer.

Good luck.
