Hi Team,
I work for a start up IT company at chennai which has less than 20 employees.
I need a clarification regarding Wage Register (Forms R &J) wherein signatures of the employees to be received in the wage register
Since we all get softcopy of the payslip, do we need to maintain these registers?
Can there be any exemption by submitting any letter or form to the labour office?
Please reply.
Thanks,

Computerised formats can be used provided you have taken permission to follow it from the Labour Department. This permission is given only when you apply to the department with all forms generated from the system/ HRMS and on satisfying that the forms have all details as are required as per the hard forms under the various Acts.

The above stated is the law. But in practice all are following soft copy or computer generated forms and the officials do not object to it also. Only thing is that you should show a salary statement with details of employees’ bank accounts and proof of having sent the pay slips to employees. That would be sufficient.

Dear Mr.Madhu,
Thanks for you reply.
We had a labour inspector visited our office. He said that Hard copy of wage slip should be maintained and no soft copies.
Though i had explained him the process we follow he did not accept. That is why this query was posted here.
What do you mean by the forms? Can you explain?
Thanks,
