Hello seniors,

I am already in my second month at my job as a cashier since I got hired. Now, I am considering leaving my current job for a better opportunity. I am contemplating leaving without giving notice to my boss as I have signed a contract with them. Can they take legal action against me? Please advise.

Your question can be answered only after knowing the terms of the contract. Furthermore, you have not mentioned the legal status of your organization (Firm, Company, Proprietorship, Shop, etc.).

In any case, it is better to inform your employer about the new job and get relieved. Take a relieving letter from them. If you are working as a Cashier and leave without informing them, the management, if really nasty, could file a false complaint of misappropriation of cash. Generally, professional companies do not file such false cases, but how professional the management is, only you can determine.

Thank you so much, sir, for the advice. I already gave them a copy of my formal resignation letter three days ago, and I am planning to leave my work on November 1, 2014, via email. Sadly, they are not responding to it.

I will send you the copy of the contract that I signed. God bless.
