The Supreme Court has held that in the case of a claim under the WC Act (now the Employees Compensation Act, 1923), interest is payable from the date of the accident and not from the date of the award. A copy of the court's judgment dated 2.1.2014 regarding this matter is attached for your information.

Good and proper decision by the court otherwise, the insurance company was being rewarded for delaying tactics. I think the order should have been revised to adjust the award upwards for inflation since the date of the accident.
