Can clauses of the appointment letter be changed later? For eg, an employee was given a notice clause of 3 months, and can that be changed to 1 month after may be 3 -4 yrs?

Yes, it can be changed, but the change has to be formally communicated to all employees.

For example, previously, the notice period was 1 month, and now it has been changed to a mandatory 2 months.

Hi!

It all depends on the nature of work and the failure of the employee to comply with the procedures. The employer may change the facts; however, once employed, the procedures will remain intact for the old employees, and the effect will take place for the prospective employees. Additionally, the employer may make changes for the benefit of the organization in order to avoid a high attrition rate. It also reflects that the employees received good training and have adapted to work efficiently, which the organization did not want to end in the present structure. Whatever the case may be, all the procedures required to be informed to the employee, as they have an effect on service issues.
