Dear Member, Is there any sign on that letter? If not then it is not valid. And if there is sign then it is valid though its came through personal mail id.

Hi,

I think you should question the recruiter directly about if there was any specific reason for sending the offer letter from a personal ID. Typically, a professional organization (small or big) has their official IDs; hence, there is no question of using personal IDs for official communication. Anyhow, there can be exceptions if the official email server is down or the recruiter is on leave but has to roll out the offer urgently and is unable to access his office ID from home. Then, only in rare situations, it is sent from a personal ID. But again, we need to mark a copy to the office ID too so that we have the official copy.

Hope my inputs were useful.

It is better to ask the HR to send the hard copy through courier. If you are in the same station, it is better to visit the office, collect the hard copy, acknowledge it there. Then, if the offer complies with your expectations or the discussions you had, wait until you receive an official document before proceeding further, such as resigning from your current organization.

If the offer is on Company’s letterhead, duly signed by authority, and scanned to you, as an attachment, though it is from personal id, it is valid, and it may be due to the reasons stated by Gia above.
Ofcourse, you must ask for a hard copy, even this is from company’s ID, since this is a very important document. Email-id in the name of Company also can be easily created by anyone.
If the offer is as a email communication directly from a personal id, it is not at all valid.

Dear all,

I had a situation when I was sent a telegraphic order of appointment requiring me to send acceptance of the same and join at the earliest. I requested for the hard copy and informed the prospective employer that I will be able to react only thereafter. You can follow suit.
