I had a formula for the calculation of fire load: combustible material in kg * calorific value/area in sq. meters for one flammable chemical in the work area we can calculate. However, in a chemical process area where a lot of chemicals are used, for instance, during the initial charging reaction time, 210 kg of solid material of flammable x and 60 kg of semi-solid flammable material y are used. During centrifuge time, another 100 liters of solvent flammable is used. For different chemicals used at different times in the process area, how do we calculate the fire load?

Dear Mr. Srimuppala,

Please review the fire load calculation provided in the attachment. For the numerous chemicals used in the plant, you may consider the following:

QUANTITY: The total quantity of all materials used in the area.

CALORIFIC VALUE: The average calorific value of all materials, or if the difference is minimal, we may consider the highest calorific value of any one material.

This justification may serve your purpose.

Thank you.

Best regards,
