Dear Friends,
I need some advice on the procedure to hire an expatriate to work in Mumbai, India. Our company is an MNC, and we have a plant and office in Mumbai. We plan to bring in an expatriate to work with us as a Project Engineer on a permanent basis in Mumbai.
1. What are the procedures to apply for a working permit, and where can I find the detailed procedures?
2. How will the tax or other lawful deductions for expatriates be handled?
I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could explain to me in detail so that I can work on this. By the way, I am the HR Manager from Malaysia, which is why I am not aware of the procedures in India. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello Vijayash,
Please find attached some FAQ inputs regarding your query. You can visit the website mentioned in the attachment. Also, please go through Point 5(iv) carefully - recently, we had an instance where a lot of effort to hire a foreigner went to waste because the company failed to notice this fine print. By the way, which sector is your company in?
All the best.
