Please inform me whether ESI & PF is applicable on Agricultural R&D Centre located outside factory premises having 6-7 workers. For your information PF & ESI is applicable in our facotry.

Since your establishment / organisation is covered under PF and ESI, all your branches and departments all over India irrespective of number of employees engaged in such branches and departments, will automatically be covered under PF and ESI.

As HR consultant I agree with a view expressed by Mr Keshav Korgaonkar provided R&D center is situated in notified area and have nexus with the business of organization. If it is situated outside the notified area it will not be covered under ESI, but it will be covered under PF. Hope this will help member.
