We just changed the RECENT tab to show country specific recent discussion threads by default. Previously we used to show recent discussions irrespective of the location. The issue with that was when someone from the US or UK came to the site and hit RECENT they would see a lot of discussions from India - which were naturally not relevant to them.
I was wondering if this change effected the interactions for our long time members. You can still see the old RECENT page by clicking on the WORLD VIEW tab at the top.
Another change is related to the search bar (highlighting the idea of searching first) - but strangely however hard we try to get people to search first - it just doesn't work. :)

Hello Sid,
This is good enhancement/change.
However, I think there's a need for some tweeking.
When I am viewing the Global View & hit the 'Recent' button, the Country View gets displayed [needing me to again select the Global View]--while it would be preferable that the SAME View [World or Country] that was being displayed before the Recent button is hit is updated on the screen.

Hi Sid !!
Its really great to find that back-office innovations keep happening !!!
I liked the default COUNTRY view, which can be fine-tuned further to CITY view.
This is very convenient for the GENERAL user/member; as one would always like to see the more RELEVANT and more familiar topics first.
Later, if time permits one can switch to the WORLD view to keep a tab on things happening around.
Thanks so very much n warm regards.

Hello Raj Kumar,
I agree with you--didn't notice the various selection options in the Country View until you pointed-out [I had presumed Country View to mean India View].
@Sid--in this context, pl clarify if the threads being displayed in World View are the Consolidated recent threads from ALL locations, or would they be ASSORTED/SELECTIVE list of threads from various locations/countries.

Greeting of the Day,
Well i'll go with Mr Raj Kumar as i also liked the default COUNTRY view. See while attempting the threads, reading and answering, learning, I never consider the location but the topic/title of discussion therefore, this never bothered me even I love to involve myself with other country specific discussions, which actually gives me lot to know them and learn from their discussions, knowledge and understanding on the subjects.
We all know CiteHR is an international community and we daily discussing the topics not just related to domestic issues or based on our country specific labour laws or so on but internationally.

Hello,
With due respect, I would like to add a suggestion. Is it possible to have a SEARCH option in an individual member's subscribed threads (MENU - MY SUBSCRIBED DISCUSSION).
At times, while providing a link to some post it becomes difficult to search the thread when the number of threads increases - probably the subject is not remembered or the day & date. If we can filter the threads broadly by category (pf, ESIC, absconding, policies etc..) OR by keywords (more likely) it would be easy to refer previous discussion.

Hello Sid,
Looks like I am NOT ALONE in facing the need for the feature what Hiral Mehta mentioned--which I had requested last week in response to a situation I faced while giving a detailed reply to one of the threads.
FYI & NA pl.

Hi Taj, Raj, Hiral, Anil,
Thanks for your valuable comments. On the whole this setting seems more valid for new users but perhaps our established members need some flexibility. Here's what we are going to do:
* We'll have a default recent setting which will decide how the RECENT tab at the top will behave. Users can either set country or world as their default view.
* We'll try to build a search feature for identifying keywords in threads - ideally adding the username in quotes "" when using the search bar at the top gets the job done but perhaps we need an internal search. Possibly Google is not indexing entire discussions.
It'll take time to develop these as they will be queued in our development phases.
Regards,
Sid
