Dear All,
We want to formalize our leave policy. Tomorrow being National holiday (October 02), we have a holiday.
If somebody took a leave Today i.e. October o1, then his tomorrows holiday should also be considered as a Leave and deducted from his leave balance? or what is the case.
Similarly, If somebody took a leave from Monday to Friday (Sat & Sunday Weekly Off), then his following Saturday & Sunday should also be considered as a leave or what is the case?
If any body combines his leave with company paid holidays then that holiday should be considered as a Leave and deducted from leave balance? Please advise.
Kindly guide me regarding the Leave related rules asap.
Tomorrow we have a meeting and need to take decision on the same.

Hi
Please find the attached leave policy. The national holidays varies from state to state. They are 11.
Case 1 : If Employee doesn't come to work on 3rd October then leave will be adjusted but if he attends duty on 3rd then 2nd Oct is Holiday.
Case 2: If Employee Absent for duty on Monday incase if he is on leave from Mon - Fri before week then these 2 days will go in leave. If Employee comes on monday after Mon - Fri leave then sat & Sun are Off's.
case 3: Deduct from leave Balance.
If Employee takes approved leave from Friday to Monday then Sat & Sun also goes in leave.

Hello Karthik,
In the case of an employee applying for Casual Leave (CL), I think the intervening holidays, if any [like the cases being discussed], WOULDN'T be counted as leaves? I have seen many companies adopting this pattern.
Also, usually CLs can't be applied/availed for more than 3 days @ a stretch. If an employee wants leave for >3 days @ a stretch, he/she has to go for Privileged Leave.

Hi It’s purely Company policy. There is no Statutory obligation as long as all leaves are available for employees under Acts. Regards Karthik

Dear Ms. manasiKulkarni 7,
If some body has taken a leave on 1st Oct, then it should be considered as a casual leave and 2nd Oct will be a national holiday. I second Mr. Karthik on all the 3 cases vindicated to you.
