hi vijay..
according to me difference between HRM and HRD..
HRM- human resource mgmt--in short means managing HR of our company.. Seeing them how they work and where they lack.
In HRD- Human Resource Development.. More emphasis is on developing the human resource.
Phases of HR..
Personnel to ...Human resource dept to ... human resource mgmt and now... Human resource development..
time have changed today and so is the HR
HR dept was formed in view of making our employees as an asset of our company..but now they r working as a asset... they have turned up associates of the company.
HRD formed --as HR mgr can not manage people/ employees.. As one can only manage non living things.. Now hr mgr job is to develop his employees according to their potential and the goals of the co.
and development should not only be in the favour of co.. but should also be of the employee...
Development in respect of practical, asthetic, intellectual, physical, mental ... that means overall development..
The development which is not short term but is long term...
will be pleased if u revert back..

For doing so the hr mgnr needs to understand the overall functioning of the organisation.
To develop & allocate human resources to the best use the hr mgnr should understand the individual requirements of the various deppts. So in short the hr mngr should be abreast with the overall working & understanding of the org.
