I am with an organization in sales for the last one and half years. But due to some egoistic problem from my boss, he was issued a show cause letter to me due to i\'m not finish up my overtime on 12th Mei 2012 untill 5:30pm. But communication via email from her had stated clearly only 19th and 26th Mei all staffs must stayback untill above said time. From this situation I need professional point of view how to answer the show cause letter and am i did wrong if I refuse to acknowledge the letter. Appreciate anybody can advice.

I understand from the details given by you that you recieved a showcause notice for not sitting up to 5.30 P.M on 12th May, though such instruction was meant for 19th and 26 th May and your defence is that you did not do any wrong on 12th May. A showcause notice is a fact finding exercise and when it is issued to an rightly or wrongly, the employee should accept it and explain and clarify his position and request the manger to close the case. Refusal may lead to insubordination which provides a case for initiating action against you.
