Dear All,

As a proactive measure in our company, we have started disposing e-waste in an eco-friendly manner since 2010 when the e-waste Draft rules were published. We have already applied for e-waste while we submitted the application for renewal of our consent to operate well in advance in Oct 2011. The costs of e-waste disposal are estimated to be Rs. 2.0 Lakhs per annum. We have taken the objective to reduce the overall costs of the disposal of hazardous wastes by Rs. 10.0 Lakhs. Therefore, the increased cost of e-waste gets compensated with the reduction in the generation of hazardous wastes and its disposal cost. I appeal to everybody to give thoughts to reduce hazardous wastes, which is usually a neglected area.

Thanks & Regards,
Sudhir

Thank you for this update and reminding us of our responsibilities towards the environment, which we all have to share. I will surely abide by the requirements and involve others as well.

Dear All,

Please find attached herewith the list of authorized e-waste recyclers in Maharashtra. I have noticed that often, managements focus on compliance, but many times the middle management ignores such compliances due to increased costs. I remember reading in the Times of India in 2004 that India is becoming a global dump yard. Similarly, Japan refused help from other countries except for "Particular Medicines" only because it never wanted to become a global dumping yard after the earthquake followed by the tsunami last year.

Let us strive for compliance and encourage others in the national interest.

Thanks & Regards,
Sudhir

Dear Respected Sir,

Please help, sir.

According to my boss, if our contract labor worked in the production area, the Factory Act is applicable for the contractor for the submission of FORM 12. However, when we refer to the Contract Labor Act, we submit FORM 16. What should be filled in this case and why?

Dear Mr.Sudhir, Now I am taking this initiative in my organisation. Kindly advise me further how to get this included in consent. Provide me if any formates required. Thanks in advance. Regards, SSM

Dear SSM,

At least in Maharashtra, there is no such format. What I did is applied for consent renewal. I applied for consent renewal somewhere in Oct 2011. However, as the rules were effective from May 2012, the State Pollution Control Board has not given any directives regarding e-waste. Our disposal is to authorized parties filling all necessary forms as appearing in the original post of Mr. PCA.

In case you require any more inputs, you may email me on my personal ID, as I cannot share some data on this forum.

Thanks & Regards,
Sudhir
