Dear Seniors,
I work as an HR in a growing IT organization where the team is divided into
Development
Testing
Support
We do not have a paid leave policy structure.Company director has granted 5 days working for testing & development team. For others its 2nd & 4th Sat working. If the testing & development team works on Saturdays they get paid the whole day's salary & if they don't come on sat's then no salary deductions.whereas others dont get such benefit. Now since others who are suffering raised this issue and now we need to have depart wise leave policy.
Being an HR of the company i want to give equal benefits to all.
Please help me in stucturing a departmentwise leave policy & suggests equal benefits to all.

Jagruti

HI Jagruthi
There should not be any differentiation in leave policy. Same policy should be applicable for every employee.
As per Shops and commercial Establishment every employee is entiteled for EL thats 1 EL for every 20 days he/she worked and 10 CL per year.
If any employee works on holiday then it should be comphensationed. Else Labour Department shall take action on the same.

Hi Jagruti, I dont understand this policy. Why you bifurcate leave policy. I think rules must be same in one company. Otherwise it make worst impact.

Hi,
I think if your company starts 5 days week for all. And if someone come on saturday or sunday for official work (with senior permission) then you can give them comp off facility.
While you making this policy take all views and prepare it. Because its a sensitive issue. Sometime people dont need money they need leave.

Hi Jagruthi As suggested by Madhuri If anybody works on holiday comphensate on any other working day. 1 EL is applicable for every 20 days he/she works and even 10CL per year.

Hi Jagruti, Then in such case you prepare leave policy for each department. Highlight benefit and loss of each department leave policy. Then try to come out. After all its company decision.....

Working days and hours should be equal to all, if you want testing team to come on two saturdays (if it is 5 days working) then implement some benefits such as comp offs as then they will feel valued for the work they do on saturdays whereas others stay at home utilizing weekly offs.
in industries, roles are benefited as per the requirement of them at work for e.g. sales people get flexible timings, lot of incentives, perks just bcoz their demand at work in odd hours. but leave policies are same for all employees, it cannot be different as per department wise.
OR to convince your management, you can include all the above as a part of policy.

Hello..
Every company must give leave benefit to every employee because it is their right.
* According to me 1.5 days for a month is appropriate as per industry standard for all the department.
*Second thing is here about saturday leave.
Mostly IT company whether they are giving saturday-sunday off or the second option is to alternate the saturday.
And one thing policy must be equal for all the department. As a HR its our prime duty that all are treated equally.
Hope so this will help you.
