My college is offering to conduct six sigma course(black belt) at a cost of 20000 or above. Is that course and its certificate valuable. Being a MBA fresher in HR specialisation, will it enhance myvalue in job market??

Hello:
Six Sigma Black Belt can be very useful to any one but especially to someone who can cope with and enjoys the rigors of serious statistics, things like Design of Experiments, Probability. etc. Generally, maths and Stats are not the strong points of guys/gals who opt for HR stream. So, before you jump into the course, go into the course material and see if you'd be able to cope up with the material. I have taught the course and know that generally people from engineering background are most successful at it. So review your school college performance in Maths and then decide.
On the other hand, you may do Green Belt course and that will help you as a manager in your stream.
Best of luck.

anupam has reaffirmed the right aspects...
your college mgmt may be promoting six sigma based on the same premsie that most Bschools promote dual specialisation..
to get the easiest placement for a candiate irrespective of what the prefernces or life goals of a student are.
max placements happen in sales...
with six sigma black belt you will land up a job soon, 90 % chances are it would be operations field in a bpo....

Hi all,
First of all, Statistics is the only core subject that can help any discipline.
Secondly, all these stats courses helps you to elaborates things very easily.
For the Heavy Human Resources, its vital to learn the Six sigma and apply it to your organizations.

Dear All,
I am working as a Team Leader for one of the companies in the healthcare industry for the past two years, and I have 3 years of experience in Medical Transcription. I am also pursuing M.H.M (Masters in Hospital Management), final semester at Osmania University. I would like to know complete details of Six Sigma courses like duration, fee structure, etc., which can be best suitable for me in the healthcare sector. I am very interested in the hospital operations side. If I do this certification, how will it be helpful for me? I would also like to know the future prospects for such certification courses in terms of my career.
I would be grateful if you would suggest me in this regard.
Many thanks in advance for your attention.
Thanks, Ravi Chinthala

Compared to other belts, a Green Belt is responsible for 25% of the project as a team member and also serves as the project leader for simple projects. The Six Sigma course holds value in the market.
