Dear Bala,
Your PowerPoint presentation on Motivation is good and explains how a person in 'X' category can be motivated to move to 'Y' category. Many people think that motivation means just saying positive things, but it is more complex than that. Various factors come into play, making motivation difficult to achieve. It requires a deep understanding of others, effective communication, persuasive skills, leading by example, and more. Your presentation was decent and concise, covering essential aspects effectively.
Thank you, and I wish you all the success. I also take this opportunity to wish you and all our HR members of this site a "VERY HAPPY, BRIGHT AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR. MAY ALL YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE IN 2012."

Dear Mr. Bala,
This is in addition to what I said earlier. Motivation is very difficult. At present, I am doing my Ph.D. in motivation and research articles scanned show it is very difficult to motivate a person. Certain things are dependent on external factors like appreciation, salary, respect, etc., while other things are dependent on internal factors as well. One should have infinite patience to find out what really motivates a person and try to adopt those methods.
I have spoken to a number of married couples who have said that it was very difficult to understand their husband or wife even after many years of marriage. If couples living together for years find it challenging to know each other's minds, what about bosses in a company? God only should help them. But all is not bad. They can still keep their minds calm, carefully observe, study, understand their subordinates' nature, and then act accordingly. One has to keep making continuous efforts to understand others, just like a cricket bowler keeps on trying his best to take a wicket. He may not succeed in every attempt, but he keeps on making efforts to get a wicket. In the end, he succeeds, and this gives him immense delight. This is what one should do in life. Keep trying until you succeed.
