Is it a requirement by law for the supervisor on the shop floor to receive an authorized letter from the management for his supervisor designation? We selected a person and provided a profile as a supervisor without offering any additional benefits or an authorized letter to him. His designation and emoluments were the same as other employees (operatives); only his job profile has been changed to supervisor.
Can we change his profile back to a machine operative at any time after a few years, considering he has not received any authorized letter from the management? If any issues arise in the future, please provide me with your advice.

Dear sir,
If a supervisor is performing the same duties as operatives, he is not truly a supervisor. A supervisor should possess the authority to oversee tasks such as recommending leave, signing gate passes, or supervising employees. What type of work is your supervisor currently engaged in? If he is overseeing employees and then you reassign him to an operative role, it will result in a demotion.
Thank you.
