Dear Members,
Brief of the case: A registered Medical Practitioner in Maharashtra has shifted to Gujarat.
Query:
1) Should the Maharashtra PT number be closed, and a new number from Gujarat be taken?
2) What if he takes a PT number from the central council of medicine (CCM)? Can he then surrender the existing Maharashtra number?
3) Should PT numbers at both places continue in addition to the number obtained from CCM?
Practice will be solely rendered in the State of Gujarat only.

Dear Jayushivu,
Regarding your query on PT, the question does not arise if the person has shifted from Maharashtra to Gujarat and is practicing his profession in Gujarat State. He will pay the tax according to the rules under the Gujarat State Tax on Professions, Callings, Trades & Employment Act.

Dear Members,
We have a Manpower Service provider company in Odisha. We have provided some Maintenance Engineers, Supervisors, Crane Operators, and Helpers to our client. Our client has secured a work contract (Material Handling & Erection) at RIL, Jamnagar. Now, RIL has instructed our client to produce challans of EPF, ESIC, and Professional tax deposited against the manpower deployed by us every month. I want to know the procedure for the registration of Professional Tax in Gujarat. Can we register online for the same and deposit the Professional Tax?

Dear Sir,
We are professional taxpayers from April 2014. We have received a P.T. liability notice for the years 2008-2009. Recently, we have paid PT payments for the period 2008-2009 and 2009-2010, but there are pending payments for the following years (April 2011- March 2014) due to financial constraints. Today, we came across news regarding the P.T. amnesty scheme in the newspaper. However, this scheme seems to be only for new registration tax payers. Could you kindly confirm if we are eligible to benefit from this scheme for our pending payments? Your help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Waiting for your reply.
Thanks,
