Hello seniors and respected experienced fellows,
Please guide me in the following matter. I have to motivate and cultivate positive attitudinal changes in tribal area workers. The industry has all sorts of CNC machines and also conventional machines like lathes, etc. Very few of the workers hold ITI certificates among the total 100 workers. Some are only experienced without any educational qualifications. All are very undisciplined; some even spit around the working area. Long absenteeism is also a common problem. For the required ISO certification, the entire atmosphere of the workplace should be changed. I know it's a difficult and long-term project. Still, I am in need of some innovative tools, games, and ideas to cultivate a good atmosphere. I want to improve civic sense and good mannerism among all workers.
So, I request all of you to help me in this matter.

Dear Mr. dskstara,
The issue facing you involves serious and multiprong action which I feel as under:
1. Have an interface with the personnel in question in a warm environment and find out their genuine needs/problems.
2. During the process at 01 above, you will be able to identify the genuine problems facing the personnel, those loyal to the group development, as well as nuisance mongers.
3. Please have an informal interaction with those found sincere, impress upon them your honest intention to solve their problems as well as the goal of the management and their contribution.
4. Start initiating action for 03 above.
5. Again involve the group as at 03 above and impress upon them the negative role of those persons and its impact on the interest of the workers in general as well as the management.
6. After singling out the people of negative type, have a sort of heart-to-heart meeting with them once again to impress upon them the harm they are causing to their brethren as well as the management and that you need their positive contribution.
7. Start taking tough action against such of those who still do not mend their ways.
8. Interface with the workmen in an informal/formal way has to continue and problems found genuine have to be sorted out quickly.
I think that the above process, if set in motion after giving due thought to items, if any, left over, may be of some help to you.

Res. S.K. Johriji,
Thank you for sharing your respected and valuable remedies. Those will be really useful to me. However, I am still interested in training the workers in life skills. I am in need of some tools, games, etc., so please share with me. As the above remedies you suggested are having temporary effects, which I am already using, I want something with a permanent effect. I am ready for a long-term impact. Thank you once again.

It depends on what kind of tribes you are going to work with, how remote the place is, and whether they are aware of your product's existence or have seen it. There are many questions that can be useful to you once you put some information about the target audience you are going to face or interact with during training. Please feel free to write to me at
for any further queries. I would be more than happy to assist, guide, and help you in this regard. Recently, I finished a training program in a remote area where people have to dig a place to fetch drinking water. The neighboring village has electricity, but they just watch them enjoying the same. I hope you will contact me soon. Have a nice day. Thank you very much. - Arminta
