I have been trying to generate a nationwide list of holidays for a client that's newly set up with a presence in almost all states. I am relying on the Central Government insights on holidays, but I have a couple of queries:

1) What is the norm in the service/FMCG industry regarding the number of holidays in total?
2) Do we need to still pay for working on holidays, or is it lawful now to provide compensatory offs? Or is an ideal scenario a mix of both?

Look forward to hearing your views.
