Dear Friend,
as per my understanding the management has decided to stop the next 3 annual increments of an employee, but unable to understand alongwith adverse entry in his character roll " .
Before coming to these conclusion I believe you have followed all applicable (Domestic enquiry etc) processes failing which there is every possibility of the employee proceeding legally.

This can be defined as the employee loses three increments permanently. He will not earn next three increments on due dates and will the next increment only on the fourth year, not before. For next three years, the employee concerned will take salary @ present pay only.
The 'adverse entry in his character roll' means the emplyee does not escape with only stoppage of three increments. He will cary the blot for ever. An entry to this effect is to be made in his service book / service record which is 'character roll' in the subject firm.
