Whatever task I assign myself, whether it's professional or personal, I have problems with it. I start the task very enthusiastically, but after some time, I lose interest and either attempt it half-heartedly or stop altogether.

Also, please advise on how to get rid of laziness and bring discipline into my life.

Dear Ajithu,

Don't get depressed, everyone will face this problem. Be positive always. Rather than being enthusiastic, you must first love whatever you do. Then surely, your enthusiasm will continue till the end. Don't worry. :)

Thank you.

Dear Mr. Ajitu,

Your unstable mind is making you a loser. It's not that easy to gain control over yourself or your mind unless you figure out what exactly you are looking for. What you lack is confidence levels within yourself. This is one of the reasons why you are not able to focus and concentrate on one thing at a time. Don't you work alongside motivators or positive mindset individuals?

There is something else in your mind that you want to achieve or love doing, but you are unable to do it. What makes you feel happy, or what is it that can give you happiness as per your expectations? Can you share this with us, or you can mail it to my ID?

With profound regards,

Dear Ajitu,

How old are you, my friend? Your moody behavior can be amended. Let life hit you hard - let there be no money in your pockets, no job in hand, no food on your plate, and no designer clothes to flaunt.

Then everything will become very interesting. You will complete everything till the end and be eager to begin anew. There will be immense satisfaction in what you accomplish. Let life challenge you; you will always remain disciplined.

And don't worry, what I mentioned happens in life. So, once these things happen to you, you will be rehabilitated from your current syndromes of laziness and indiscipline.

Alternatively, you can learn from the world around you and buckle up!! Take my words in a lighthearted spirit. I want to help; don't feel bad.

Thanks

Thank you for the suggestion. The problem is that there is no clarity of thoughts. While attempting one task, I think of another task, so both tasks go incomplete and I become lazy. I have huge ambitions and expectations, i.e., through which channel I want my life to pass. However, I am unable to initiate the actual process because of this.

Dear Ajitu2012,

Always be in one place. (One place means not for your body, it is for your mind). Take one task at a time. (Complete one task fully up to your satisfaction, then have a break for 10 to 20 minutes and take up the second task and proceed). Never let your morale down. (Always think you are a born achiever and move ahead).

Before concluding, I would like to tell you one thing. Whoever took birth in this world is really a successful person because in the mother's womb, only one or two eggs will be available, but from the sperm, millions of semen will attack the egg. Only one or two semen will successfully make an entry inside the egg. That successfully entered semen only becomes Bhaskar, Ajit, and others. So, always keep in mind that we are all born achievers.

All the best.

Dear Ajitu, no need to worry yaar... don't get depressed. It happens sometimes. Don't take this as a serious matter. Try to accompany those who keep you confident and enthusiastic. Just avoid being with demotivators and please do not share your problem with your colleagues or friends because I feel 90 percent of people will just listen to your problem, 5 percent will make fun, and the remaining 5 percent can help you, but your luck also should get such people in your life. Nothing is impossible yaar in life. See yaar, one thing is sure that either you are personally disturbed or professionally. Trust me, have guts and lead your life nicely.

Dear Ajitu,

You are not a loser. Do you want to know why? Because you have the courage to come on to this forum and write what is going through your mind. Do you know what this means? This means that in spite of all that you claim is happening in your mind, you have had the brilliance to tear through it and identify a critical issue. And, this is my absolute favorite - once you identified those issues, you didn't sweep them under the carpet. Instead, you have faced them head-on. And, that, my friend, is more than 50% of your solution already!

So, don't despair. You are definitely different - but 'good' different. So, I have an offer for you: Do you live in or near Gurgaon? Are you willing to travel to Gurgaon for 2 or 3 free success coaching sessions? Send me an email (address is in the signature block below) and we'll take it from there.

Take care and keep those horses in check - until you need their 'FULL HORSEPOWER'!

Dear Ajitu,

I'm sorry for being harsh with my words earlier. You still didn't tell us your age! There is no relevance of the advice to your age, but I just wanted to know what phase of life you are in so that seniors here can give you better advice.

We all have gone through or are going through the feeling which you have mentioned in your post, so what is happening to you is not new. However, you have to ward off this uncertainty and focus on your goal. All the advice mentioned by dear members is good, and you have to strive to follow this advice; only then can you truly achieve your potential. I know this is easier said than done, but you have to do it.

There will be distractions, so learn to focus.

Maintain fitness, exercise, jog, play your favorite sport.

Avoid useless, wandering, aimless friends who just call you to chit-chat, waste time, money, and energy.

Read books. If you don't like reading books, read articles, magazines, but good ones (Competition Success, India Today), or relevant to your field.

If you have absolutely nothing to do, listen to soothing music. Relax.

Never keep your mind idle.

Set result-oriented deadlines for the tasks you take up, write them down on paper, and paste them on your room walls. Then strike off whatever you completed; this will give you good satisfaction when you strike off a completed task.

Manage your time, set alarms, reminders, etc. Keep your schedule personal and private; don't drumbeat to your friends and colleagues about your schedules.

Respect your time, work, and efforts. Don't allow distractions to deter you from your goals. Don't let any temptations distract you - pretty girls, cricket matches, partying, festivals, etc.

Don't forget to have fun, socialize, make friends, go partying, but within limits of time and value.

Remember one thing: in this world, a self-dependent, rich, earning person is respected no matter what he/she does, rather than a depressed, poor, dependent person. If you don't buckle up, the world will put you down and judge every action.

So, my friend, you are not alone in this world, but you are truly alone in your head and heart. It's your battle, and only you can fight it.

Hi,

I think it is just one issue, and that is mindset. Buddy, what you are talking about is exactly what everyone faces. Many face the temptation to leave things unfinished and pursue something new. Check out this video: [Rocky Motivational Speech - YouTube](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tWLqFmaNdQ). When you start, keep moving forward; just keep moving forward.

Hi, there are many people like you. It's a personality profile of a creator. Your interest is more in starting things. The best would be if you could ideate and start but have someone else to take it ahead. Unfortunately, that is rarely possible in the Indian scenario.

The other option is to have a list of things/projects you are doing and sub-tasks, with deadlines and priority levels. Review the list regularly to remind yourself of what is left to be done and why it's important that it be done. Speeding up your response time would help to complete the task before you get bored. Finally, you will need to discipline yourself and force your professional self to complete the work.

These are from my personal experience. Hope it helps.

Dear Ajitu,

Manage your time well. List out your activities for the day. Assign time for each activity and schedule the same.

Go to the activity as per the schedule and try to complete it within time. If you find problems on how to complete it, speak to your peer employees, and even to seniors and the boss.

Try the best alternative which gives you the best result in a short time, but mind it should be systematic and presentable.

Evaluate at the end of the day all your activities. Analyze both completed and uncompleted activities. Assign reasons for both. Try another alternative the next day for the uncompleted activities.

I am sure you will start getting results within a week's time.

Best of luck. Believe in yourself.
