Friends,

I have been lurking for a few days to get a general feel of the board. Feeling a little out of place and very much out of date among the specialists here. A thumbnail sketch is set out below.

As you can see, I'm a somewhat self-taught, home-grown HR amateur. It is a great pleasure to learn from all of you, so don't mind my asking stupid questions occasionally.

Introducing Rahul Bhimjiani, a graduate of IIM-A. He also has formal qualifications in engineering, management, and law. He has worked for over 7 years each as an executive (always in general management, mostly CEO roles), teacher, and professional. Almost all of it has been outside the corporate sector, in NGOs, Government, Academic/Training Institutions, Funding agencies & Media.

Currently based in Nagpur, he operates as an independent management consultant and trainer under the banner of S.O.S. The work focuses on strategic, organizational, and functional aspects of change management, primarily for the services sector (mostly development, education, and IT). A lot of it is with start-ups or organizations in transition, often hands-on at site with clients all over the country.

He is also preparing for a pilot project to establish proof of concept for 4C-IT, an internet-enabled enterprise aiming to bridge the digital divide by tackling interactivity issues through a consortium of last-mile ICT entrepreneurs.

He can be contacted at 0712-2555343 (O+R) or 011-31207005 (mobile) or through email at rhimjian@rediffmail.com.

Reminds me of this one incident:

I am known among my friends to be extremely finicky about cleanliness and orderliness, always cleaning the house and always reminding them to keep the place tidy. I recently shifted to a new place; it's a nice location in a posh colony in New Delhi. There was a poster on one of the walls that I didn't remove as it didn't seem to interfere with the overall ambiance of the place, and moreover, I kind of liked it.

One day a couple of my friends came over and asked me to remove the poster immediately because it said, "If I'd been organized, I'd be dangerous," which they felt was completely inappropriate to describe me. They called it the "heights of modesty." :)

Hey Rahul, it's great to have you here, and I am sure there are many members here who would love to learn a few tricks of the industry from you.

Keep in touch.

Your kind words cloaked in humor turned out to be prophetic indeed. I found out how superbly disorganized I really am when seeing my own mail. I made not one, but two mistakes in my email ID. The correct one is: **@rediffmail.com. Hope there are no mistakes this time around. ;)

Hi Rahul,

It's great to read your post because I'm new too and feeling a bit lost. There's so much to read and do, and I'm sure that's what you're feeling too. I'll look forward to discussing things, chatting, meeting, and posting musings. Right, and that's the maximum amount of poesy I can do without sounding crazy.

Please look up my profile on the Consultants listing.
