Teachers are professionals:
Whenever we hear the word teacher our mind flashes with various images of teachers of different levels, especially our primary teachers who taught us basics.
Teacher is also called a “GURU” in ancient times, which means to say he is the one next to the god. Many of us saw teachers with same respect. But, nowadays teachers are losing respect and teaching is considered as another job, where his role has limited. Earlier GURU was not only meant for teaching few subjects but he took a role of a facilitator, a thinker, a friend, a guide, a philosopher and what not. Today the same guru is treated as an ordinary person who is hardly recognized by all.
The Management, colleagues, students and the teacher himself/herself looking the teaching as job and degrading its value. This is really a painful scenario, which we have demoralized the strength of a teacher” GURU”. Kabir says” I will bow my head to guru who showed me the god” but today there is no value for god and guru, as both are sidelined by the modern generation. Today’s management has taken education as business and GURU has the instrument to earn returns. The teacher is used now to do all set of work along with the teaching, as the management looks teacher has Zero value. Today’s students have almost forgotten the value of the teacher and parents are indirectly controlling teachers to do what they say and it also supported by management as they think students first and teacher has last priority.
We have to really introspect ourselves what we are doing? Are we not taking out the professionalism from the guru and making him slave to the system and treating him as an ordinary man. We have forgotten the GURU who taught us morals, values and lot many things to lead a comfortable life. We have forgotten the guru who showed the god and the path to reach it. We have forgotten the wisdom that came to us by the same guru. We have forgotten that Teachers are professionals not slaves.
