In India professionalisation of top management has not yet taken deep roots. There could be very few to name. One recentlly to take place is Infossys where Mr K V Kamath has been appointed as the Chairman of Infossys.
In US and Europe, there are a large number of cases.
A few shining examples in US are Indra Nooyi an Indain who is the CEO of Pepsi; Mr Vikram Pandit, CEO of Citigroup; Mr Dinesh Paliwal, Harman International, Franco D Souza, Cognizant, Mr Surya Mohapatra, Quest Dagnostics, Mr Shantanu Narayain, Adobe Systems, MR Jai P Nagarkatti, Sigma Aldrich, Mr Abhijit Talwalkar, LSI. All these companies are very great copmpanies in US.
Also one Mr Arun Netravali is the head of Bell Labs- a lab which till now was headed by only Nobel laurettes.

- If your query is about ownership and management in respect of companies, let me try to answer your question.
- Technically, Legally and Theoretically company is owned by it's shareholders and there could be millions of shareholders in a company.
- All shareholders collectively and jointly elect or nominate Board of Directors to run the affairs of the company, as their representatives. Board of Directors is the highest managerial body in any company.
- Obviously a Person or Group of Persons having majority shareholding in a company will have control of the company and he or they will decide who will be the Board Members of the company, on the strength of their shareholding.
- Board of Directors in turn will decide and appoint CEO and other key positions in a company. CEO can be a third person or one of the director as well.
- CEO is not a statutory post under Indian Laws. Hence not necessarily all companies will have CEO in place.
