Hi all,

I am eligible for the gratuity from my company as I have completed 5 years with the organization. I came to know from some of the seniors that we can transfer our gratuity to another organization while switching the organization. I would like to know the process for this. Thanks in advance.

Dear Member,

Welcome to CiteHR. We have not heard of such a system/provision in the PG Act to transfer the gratuity amount to another organization. If you are transferred to another organization with continuity of service, then in that case, you will get gratuity from that organization, and you will get the benefit of this service while calculating gratuity.

But sir, why nowadays is Doordarshan giving government advertisements that we must not withdraw our gratuity from the previous organization, instead transfer it to the new organization to get maximum benefits later on? I also want to know the procedure of transferring gratuity. Please help.

Dear All,

Gratuity cannot be transferred from one organization to another. However, at the same time, the superannuation funds of an individual can be transferred from one organization to another, provided the new organization provides superannuation benefits. I have never heard of gratuity transfer so far. If anyone can shed light on this, I would appreciate it.

You are mistaken. The advertisement (I have not noticed it as I do not view Doordarshan regularly) might be on transfer of PROVIDENT FUND and not gratuity. Regards, Madhu.T.K

Dear Member,

This advertisement relates to the transfer of Provident Fund and not for gratuity.
