Respected all,
Last night, I came to know that a guy had hacked my Gmail account, even though I never shared my password for that account or any other accounts with anyone else. This person is very much unknown to me, but from the information I have, I know that he works in a reputed company in my city and holds a very respectable position.
Since he has hacked all three of my accounts, I am very tense as they contained vital data such as my banking details, personal emails, photos, and more. Now, please guide me on how to approach this matter. I believe that the Cyber Crime Law of India is the toughest law in our country; will it really help me? I am worried about all the potential consequences that may arise.
I appreciate your valuable input on this matter.

Dear,
Login to your accounts. Keep a notepad and pen handy. Put in a fresh password and make a record to remember, then log out. After an hour or two, log in again and change the password. Remember to update your records. Record the details of your personnel profile for password resets.
Login to your account and intentionally type incorrect passwords to try and lock your account. After a day or two, reset your password by answering a simple security question and then change it once you are logged in. Repeat this process after a day or two.
Try following this routine for a week. I recommend downloading all personnel details and deleting all emails. Keep your account empty for about a month. Do not store any emails; once read, delete them immediately after taking a backup.
I believe this approach might be effective.

Greetings,
How did you come to know that your account has been hacked? I am asking this, as it can be done in a number of ways. He can set up spyware that will keep him updated each time you change your password.
First and foremost, I would request you to erase every piece of information as Naga Manthara has suggested. Thereafter, please refrain from accessing those accounts until you have resolved the issue. Each time the accounts are accessed, let that be documented in the domain.
I have requested our legal experts to assist you in mitigating any risks that you may face at this stage.

Thank you, everyone, for your kind information.
Actually, when I logged in yesterday, I discovered that I had blocked one person, and automatically, he appeared back on my chatting list and started chatting. Additionally, the chat window with whom I was conversing earlier kept getting minimized, which led me to suspect that my account was hacked.
I was initially certain from my software engineer friends that Gmail couldn't be hacked, but now I am convinced that it can be done.
Upon realizing that my account had been compromised, I promptly deleted all the vital data from the account and ensured it was clean. I also reset it with new passwords.
I am now keeping a close watch on my account for all the activities happening with it. However, the concern remains about identifying the culprit operating the account. We have launched a case against him as we have traced his IP address.
Nagaji, I will follow the tips you have provided me.
Now, I am worried that anyone can potentially hack any email account from any service provider. How can I ensure its safety? Is there any security for accounts like Skype, Rediff, Yahoo, etc.?
Thanks & Regards,
K
