Recent analysis of recruiting new employees shows that stability of their continuance in the organisation is very minimal period. Attrition increases due to resignations of employees, after the strenuous efforts taken by the employer by calling the executives for interviews, analysing skills and placing the trust on them in delegating the responsibilities, to make user friendly of the objectives, needs and the goals. Quantum of time spent, cost incurred everything leads no gain, if the employees quits very often and switching over. How the employer can control or face effectively to manage Human Resource. Better suggestions and controls of retaining personnel are welcome. Measures that can be followed during interview or provisions to hold them under Law. How to differentiate oscillate minded people and control over them to achieve organisational excellence. Impact on the increase in attrition will affect the growth of organisation.

Dear Chitra,

The world is far more competitive. To sustain the competition, you invest in employee recruitment, training etc. If you don't do that you will not sustain the competition. Employers are doing all this to promote their business and nothing else. They don't have altruistic desire to do all this.

Attrition is linked to your organisation culture. Fix the cultural issues first and then come back to attrition. If people are leaving then there appears to be gap between perceptions of management and perceptions of the employees.

Because of fierce competition, attrition is here to stay. However, it is important to manage attrition to your advantage also. Outsiders bring dynamism. They bring new thought process, which otherwise the existing employees would not have brought.

As far as bringing law is concerned to force the employees to work for certain period is against our constitution. Frankly speaking it is management's failure to retain the employees. It is failure of their leadership qualities. For this you cannot have constitutional amendment.

By the way you have written to amend the law. But then how many employers follow labour laws to the last detail? How many times employers were penalised for not following the labour laws of the land? If you could study these facts or do some survey, it would enrich everyone's knowledge - yours as well as ours.

By the way before their closure, owners of Subhiksha never paid salary of their employees for couple of months. Neither they deposited employees' PF contributions or any other statutory payments. After two years also they are moving with impunity. Would you mind to recommend strict enforcement of some law for employers who cheat their employees?

Thanks,
