A boy was born to a couple after eleven years of marriage. They were a loving couple, and the boy was the gem of their eyes. When the boy was around two years old, one morning the husband saw a medicine bottle open. He was late for the office, so he asked his wife to cap the bottle and keep it in the cupboard. His wife, preoccupied in the kitchen, totally forgot the matter. The boy saw the bottle, playfully went to the bottle fascinated by its color, and drank it all. It happened to be a poisonous medicine meant for adults in small dosages. When the child collapsed, the mother hurried him to the hospital. He died. The mother was stunned. She was terrified of how she was going to face her husband.
When the distraught father came to the hospital and saw the dead child, he looked at his wife and uttered just five words.

ANSWER:

Wonderful story. Apart from good relationships, I feel the story also gives a lesson about living from moment to moment as the great intellectual J. Krishnamurti would say or some of the wonderful things written in the book "The Power of Now".
Though playing the blame game is undesirable as is brought out by the story, our shastras have said that to solve a problem you have to get to the root, and to do that, some blame has to be apportioned. Therefore, it all depends on with what motive you blame. As the saying goes, "God punishes the intention, not the action." In my view, only blaming with dubious motives and vested interest is undesirable.

This is a true story, and it happened about 11 years ago. The husband is an Indian Naval Officer - still serving and currently a Captain. They were posted in Kochi when this incident happened. Truly a great couple - they have another child now.

Everyone should react in a positive way because in this world no one is right, but people try to ignore their faults and try to blame others, feeling self-satisfaction. This is one type of phobia, especially in humans. In order to cover their mistakes, they try to raise faults in another person and try to divert from their faults, not pointing out their own.
