Hello,

For a background verification process, the following things are basic:
1. Address Check
2. Education Check
3. Employment Check

However, a few also depend on the client's mandate, such as the ones listed below:
4. Criminal Check
5. Drug test, etc.

Most IT companies outsource this.

Smitha

You need to do benchmarking to see how many years of past experience you are verifying and then ensure these are completed.

Database checks - your vendor would know which components will fall under this.

Education - Highest qualification - Name as per certificate, Register/Seat number, Year of passing, type of degree signed by authorized university personnel.

Employment - Years of past employment to be verified, name, designation, start and end date, compensation, and reason for leaving.

Additional checks - Drug test, Criminal history, Credit history are based on client requirements.

Hello,

I think most of my friends have defined the areas to be covered while conducting reference checks for employees. I would like to add that apart from this, it is also essential to authenticate the person who is supporting the information provided in the reference check. Getting the name and number of a 'referee' may not be enough as it is easy to falsify information and data over the phone. It is advisable to ask for company name, designation, landline number, mobile number, email address, etc., as basic information for authentication.

Hope this helps.

Thanks and Regards,
Aparna

The antecedent checking is a very specialized job. There are agencies that conduct such checks. You may hire the services of one of these agencies.

In government offices, this check is conducted by the police and the medical officers.

Hi!

First of all, thanks to all of you for replying to my query. Actually, I have worked in an MNC (an IT firm) for two years, but now I want to switch jobs. I want to ask if it would be offensive to show a dummy/false project in a different computer programming language that I have not done in my previous company. Do IT companies also inquire about employees' projects in previous companies along with other verifications? What actions can be taken if this is discovered? My other documents such as experience certificates, salary slips, etc., are perfectly legal.

Thanks...

Hi,

There are different things that can be checked, but the most important ones include work experience, last withdrawn salary, status of exit formalities, and whether the candidate served their notice period or not. Verification of these details is necessary to find out whether a candidate is right for your organization or not.

As far as verifying these details is concerned, there are many online verification tools that can help you. One such tool is Verified Resources. It verifies the above-mentioned details related to a candidate and offers quick as well as accurate results, so you can easily determine whether a candidate is lying on their resume or not.

Here is the link to Verified Resources: [www.verifiedresources.com](http://verifiedresources.com)

You can try using this to make the right hiring decisions for your organization.

Thanks,
Meesha
