Hi there,
A No Objection Certificate or No Obligation Certificate in my country is provided to expatriate employees to confirm to the new employer that:
- They don't mind this person being recruited into their organization.
- The person is cleared from their previous organization, especially financially.
This certificate is crucial for submission at the Immigration office for the transfer of sponsorship/visa from one organization to another.

Dear Sreeram,
A No Objection Certificate (NOC) is important for an employee to be relieved from an organization, as the certificate states that the employee has no dues with any department and is eligible for final settlement.

Hello Sreeram,
Anayaat and Mahesh have provided the details, which should clear your doubts by now. I am not sure which country you are located in. NOC is the term used in the Public Sector/Government in India, while the Private sector uses the term Relieving Certificate. The purpose and content, by and large, are the same, although the wordings may differ.

Thank you for your reply. I am an Indian who worked in a PSU bank and recently got a job in the central government. However, my problem is that during the interview, I did not submit an NOC and did not mention my past employment to my new job. I had properly been relieved from my past organization. Will it be a problem for me not submitting the NOC and not mentioning my past employment?

Hello Sreeram,
You mentioned what you did, but you haven't explained why you did it - not mentioning your past experience. Is there any particular reason for this? Being in a PSU/government employment, you must be aware that it could be disastrous.
