When we hire employees for start-up the biggest challenge is attracting in terms of compensation and retention. Generally a strong business idea may inspire them. But To convert those interests into full time employment, certain redesigning of the offering would be quintessential.

Here's an article which share how the equity can be divided into employees .It divides the salary into fixed and variable part. This equity further creates a partnership feeling as the employee is directly contributing to the firm's growth. Percentage for equity distribution needs to be based on the fixed salary, level of the employee and the time frame within which it would be distributed.
