Hello friends!

Please give your valuable suggestions on this hot topic. Nowadays, most people are getting jobs through consultancy agencies, which take 50% of their salary. Is this the right way to get a job? Is there any job security in these organizations?

Thanks & regards,

I think this depends on the the need of the candidate and also the type of company he / she is getting the job in.

Vinay, you are right, but it is not a matter of big or small company; it's a matter of money and your degree. What benefit do you get after investing a significant amount? Another question is, if you are getting a job through a consultant, is there any guarantee that the company will not fire you after 1 or 2 months?

It's not only today that people need to pay to get jobs. It has been followed in our culture since Ancient Times when people bribed the Palace Guards or Influential contacts to get entry into a Kings Palace. And it's not only regarding getting placed in companies. In our Country, we have to follow the rules of paying extra for every damn thing nearly everywhere. In our daily life too, it's the same. In fact, we have become immune to corruption, and it's our way of life. It begins with our Political leaders and ends at the man on the street. There is no escape!

Moreover, we all follow corruption in our lives in one form or another, and nobody bothers because our experiences show that it's of no use fighting deep-rooted corruption, whether in jobs or in other ways of daily life. So be happy and don't worry......regards

I 100% agree with Veeru. If you don't perform, the company is going to fire you, no matter where you have been recruited from (consultancy, campus, off-campus, employee referral). Each company is in the market for business.

I don't think you can get any jobs through consultants except for BPO and voice process. The best way is through referrals and portals. Being an HR professional, I found a job by updating my CV on job portals, and I got a call in 2 months to work in a competitive firm. Dear friends,

Nowadays, most companies rely on consultants. This trend began as lazy and unqualified candidates were being hired based on their certificates, years of experience, and fluency in language rather than their actual skills. We can discuss this further. However, in practice, we struggle to meet requirements efficiently due to our lack of expertise.

Unless the younger generation delves deep into their fields and acquires thorough knowledge, the practice of securing jobs through consultants and referrals will gradually fade away. The deserving candidates will secure good positions while others will have to compete fairly for their roles.

Thank you,

Dear Member,

I would like to bring to your attention that no genuine consultant will charge the candidate. A genuine consultant will charge the company only, which may be 8.33%, 10%, or 12% depending on various criteria. There is no need to pay the consultant. However, if you choose to pay, it is purely based on your discretion. In that case, please do not blame the consultancy.

Dear All,

I agree with Disha. If you are really in contact with a genuine consultant, they charge the company, not the candidate. Yes, there is an association of reputable consultants from India. So please check with the consultant if they are members of the Executive Recruiter Association. If they are, then deal with them as they can not only help you get the best job but also not charge you to secure a good job. This is because as an association, they have a code of conduct where members are not allowed to charge any fees to candidates.

In case any members of this group are running their consulting business, they can join the association, which will help them grow in their own profession.
