Hello friends,

I have completed an MBA in HR and have landed a job as an HR manager in a garment firm. As I am a fresher, I am unsure about what to do for the organization or what my duties entail. Can anybody suggest to me what I should be doing?

Though I am not a professional HR, I can help you out with some basics. Start by framing policies, rules, and regulations. Establish a strict attendance monitoring system. Build contacts for candidate searches, screening, shortlisting (after telephonic or initial basic interviews), finalizing, recruiting, and issuing offer letters, appointment letters, temporary and permanent ID cards, transfer letters, promotion letters, increment letters, appreciation letters, rewards, termination letters, and ensuring compliance with PF, ESI, PT, MLWF, Bonus, Leaves, Medical Insurance, and Policies. Organize events, games, and celebrations to enhance team building.

Ensure there is a single line break between paragraphs.

If you are a HR professional...then yes a lot...basically you need to understand the emotional needs of the people and helps you out in building interpersonal relationships with them

To be a good HR manager, one should have the power to motivate the people. Convincing the people and directing them towards the right path is the duty of an HR Manager to reduce conflicts inside the organization.

Human Resources - The very nature of the profile is connecting with people. When it involves human nature, emotions are bound to be involved. While you need to focus objectively, you need to proceed with a sense of compassion and empathy when required. Don't expect people to thank you. Carry on with your functions with humbleness. Never be angry. Anger only cultivates hate, and finally, it is important how you respond.

Respond - Pause, clarify, and reply...that is a response. An impulsive reply or action (without thinking) is a reaction and not a response. These are a few gems I have learned. Practice them in your personal and work culture. You cannot go wrong.
