Is there any labor law that governs the grievance handling procedure in the service industry? I've recently joined a service company, and as a part of the job description, I have to handle employee grievances too. I have gone through the Industrial Disputes Act, but I suppose it's only applicable to factories. Can anyone please help me with this?

The application of the Industrial Disputes Act is not limited to factories alone; it is also applicable to service sector establishments. However, the ID Act is legislation that outlines the machinery for settling disputes. Only grievances that remain unresolved within the organization will be addressed in forums such as the Conciliation Officer, Board of Conciliations, Labour Court, or Tribunals. Therefore, you can establish your grievance handling procedure. If you explore this site, you will find a PowerPoint presentation on the subject. Please take a look.
