Calendar management is exactly what it says - managing a calendar! Most typically, often one of the main duties of an Executive Assistant or Personal Assistant is to manage the calendar of his/her boss. It will involve scheduling meetings, advising others of the manager's availability for whatever reason, knowing where the manager is at any given time, etc. A good EA will manage the calendar effectively, not allowing the manager to be swamped with meetings or using up his time on frivolous matters that might be more effectively dealt with by delegating to other officers etc.

Use whatever method suits you and your organization. If you have Outlook, use that. Use the tools you have and are familiar with; don't waste time looking for other things. It may even be that a simple calendar printed out on paper will meet your needs. Remember the KISS principle: Keep It Simple, Stupid. Don't overcomplicate things when you don't need to.

We spent some time talking to customers about how executives spend their time and how to manage their priorities through their calendars.
