As I understand, there are basically three types of leave that prevail in any organization in India: Earned Leave (sometimes called Privilege Leave / Paid Vacation), Sick Leave, and Casual Leave. These are largely governed by internal company policy based on each state's Shop & Establishment Act.
From your question, I gather that you are asking about how to claim leave in case of an emergency. I would say that this largely depends on an organization's internal policy.

Dear all,
One of our employees took a leave for 25 days without informing HR. After 25 days, we asked the reason for taking the leave. He is saying his grandma expired. As an employer, can we ask for proof of death or any evidence of death? He is actually denying producing such proof.
Please advise.
