My question is, what methods can be followed to identify the blind spots of one's personality and how can they be cured? I am eagerly awaiting a response as I want to implement this in my organization, especially for senior individuals.

Hi,

If you have heard of the Johari window, that is an old tool to help you identify blind spots and then seek the help of close friends or associates to work on them. Some ways to locate your blind spot include asking yourself a question about one thing you could do that would have the maximum impact on your life (such as adopting healthy habits, maintaining a healthy weight, or being punctual), and recognizing patterns that emerge in your life, such as repeated occurrences.

Furthermore, when you are in a job that goes against your basic nature or personality, you may have several blind spots or areas for improvement. Conversely, when you are in a job aligned with your basic nature, those same blind spots can become your strengths. If you require more information, please feel free to get in touch with me.

Yes, we all need to know our blind spots because development means the 3 A's:

Awareness

Analysis

Action

Unfortunately, at times we are unaware of these blind spots. I think it first begins with an attitude, then comes the data (through others - Johari or through simulation games). Put them into simulations and use a video camera as a feedback tool because remember, they are blind spots and seeing is believing.

The crux, dear, is in LISTENING - are your people effective listeners? Otherwise, one needs to begin there.

If you want details, call - would love to share my experiences.

Thanks, Ravi and Arvind, for your replies.

I have certainly read about the Johari window but never practiced it. I will try doing it this time. I will be thankful if you can send me some more material/questions/tests on it so that I can be clear on how I should proceed. You can send it to my personal email as well at mankaz22@yahoo.co.in.

Thanks in advance,
Manka
