I am Shivani, working with a manufacturing organization in HR department. As we all know, time is changing & this is a "Green Era" we all r living in..So,following that i have started with a couple of "GREEN HR INITIATIVES" in my company.
One of them is "Tree plantation" by the employees on their birthdays. I am a little curious to know what kind of "Green HR practices" are followed in other companies. Kindly share the same. Any suggestion, advices, creative ideas are welcomed..

I would like to appreciate your initiative in implementing new things in your organization. I would also like to contribute to your Green HR Initiatives by suggesting something new. Tree plantation is a very good idea, but I also have another suggestion that your organization's people will enjoy.

Most of the time in organizations, we are used to conducting fun activities. You can organize a theme show on social messages like saving trees to help the environment. This way, all your office mates can participate and have fun. Alternatively, you can celebrate the day as SAVE TREE DAY, where everyone will have to wear green and come with a message. I hope you like my suggestion.

I am Ruban Kumar pursuing MSW (HR) at Mar Gregorios College. My suggestion is to reduce the use of plastics in your organization by employees and instead provide small plants as incentives. By giving small plants, we can show appreciation to the employees and also contribute to planting trees outside the organization. The organization should also work on reducing chemical wastage, which could be beneficial in combating air pollution. These are some of my suggestions. If there are any mistakes, I sincerely apologize, seniors.

You can further encourage all staff members to avoid unnecessary printouts to reduce paper consumption. Printouts should only be necessary for maintaining statutory obligations required by government authorities.

For internal correspondence, utilize emails and file transferring portals exclusively. To enhance security, consider linking our official email IDs with Gmail accounts. This way, emails received in the official email will automatically transfer to Gmail, ensuring preservation even if deleted from the official account.

For salary processing, prepare paysheets in soft copy and send them to employees' email IDs. Salaries should be credited directly to their bank accounts, creating a foolproof record.
