Hi Neelima I believe salary has to be calculated on the basis of no. of working days (included sunday)in a month.

hi jaspreet,
thanks a lot for your reply. but what i mean to say is no. of working days sh. be 30 or depending on th eworking days in the perticular month (Ex. in feb. do we have to pay only for 28 days, in mar. 31days... so on and so forth?)

Yes dear, ofcourse you have to pay the salary on the behalf of no. of working days in a month, for instance for Feb: 28 working days, March: 31 working days and so on...

Hi Neelima,
Jaspreet Kaur is telling that
feb Sal :
4 Sundays in feb --- 28 (days in feb) - 4 ( Sundays) = 24 (working days)
if an employee salary is 20000
20000/28*24
= 17142
is this right Mr. Jaspreet Kaur

Dear Shree
Pls see my first post, as mentioned while calculating no. of working days, we have to count sundays also..like
Per Month Salary is Rs.20000/-
Now for Feb, salary per day would be Rs.20000/- divided by 28 (No. Of days).
I believe now the things are clarified..
Or still something left then pls let me know, ur most welcome.

Dear Neelima,
I disagree with Jaspreet. No. of days always taken as 30 days in a month for calculation of pay for the permanent employee. However for casual workers, days can be counted as no. of days actually worked.

Salary is calculated for for the whole month. It is not broken up according to the number of days. For Ex if an employee salary is Rs.20,000/- it will be paid in full, whether it is Jan or Feb. But for the loss of pay it is calculated as per the no. of days.
Example if an employee is on three days loss of pay in Jan then the pay will be calculated as below :-
20000/31 * 28
Likewise for Feb it will be calculated as below:-
20000/28*25
Remember when you had given the offer letter, it doesn't specify for month related salaries.
Only when employing casual labour who are on daily wages, we can break it up.
Hope this clarifies your doubt.
