RULES FOR BEING HUMAN ~
You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it's yours to keep for the entire period. You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time, informal school called life. There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial, error, and experimentation. The "failed" experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiments that ultimately "work". Lessons are repeated until they are learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can go on to the next lesson. Learning lessons does not end. There is no part of life that doesn't contain its lessons. If you're alive, there are still lessons to be learned. "There" is no better than "here". When your "there" has become "here", you will simply obtain another "there" that will again look better than "here". Other people are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate about yourself. What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.

"Rules for Being Human" was given to me by a dear teacher in high school. She had acquired it somehow and felt a need to pass it on, as I do now.

I love it! You should keep the rules in a place where you can always see them, as they're a beautiful reminder for you, as well as the rest of us, to check the correctness of the rules.

Arun ji,
The teacher loved you. So, she passed on the rules to you. You love us, and so you are passing on the rules to us. Fine. But from the time your teacher passed on these rules to you, much water has already flowed in the river Ganga. How can the rules be static?
Mr. Cherie Carter-Scott saw the world through his glasses. Will his glasses fit everyone?

Hi Arun,
Thank you for the nice message. Dr. Mahanta - I think good philosophies are evergreen and they can be adapted to the changing needs of time. Just like a bee goes from flower to flower and takes the nectar as per its need, whenever we come across books/quotations/words of wisdom, we need to take the nectar from them as per our need.
