SAP is expanded as "Systems Applications & Products in Data Processing." ERP stands for "Enterprise Resource Planning," which integrates all of your business processes and functions. I am working with Ramco Systems, one of the ERP solutions providers like SAP.

Hi Sarita.
ERP stands for Enterprise Resource Planning systems. It integrates (or attempts to integrate) all data and processes of an organization into a single or unified system. A typical ERP system will use multiple components of computer software and hardware to achieve the integration. A key ingredient of most ERP systems is the use of a unified database to store data for the various system modules.
SAP, which stands for Systems Application Programming, is an Integrated Enterprise Resource Planner. SAP encompasses many functions including Finance, Materials, Production, Quality, Maintenance, and HR. SAP HR is a module.

Hi Sarita,
SAP is one of the many ERP solutions. The best part of SAP is that, though it is standard, it can still be customized. The beauty of SAP is instant data collection and integration for multiple locations. Another advantage that SAP provides is standardizing the business processes and practices, thus offering strict adherence to company policies.
I have used customized ERP solutions (based on Foxpro, Oracle, and Clipper) as well as SAP in my previous organizations. Personally, I found SAP better than the others and more user-friendly.
