Vibhuti has really posted very valuable information. However, I would like to provide the easiest way to understand the difference between the two.
A CV is a detailed lengthy document stating information about you, whereas a resume is short and concise (usually 2 pages maximum) and highly professional. Extra statements such as strengths, weaknesses, etc., are not included in a resume. A CV is typically used for academic purposes or when applying for a job after gaining significant experience, whereas a resume is suitable for positions like managerial roles, etc. I hope this clarifies the distinction for you. People on websites are drawn towards authentic, new, and quality content. The lack of previous responses can be seen as an indication of this. Additionally, I find the content to be overly preachy, filled with numerous "do's," "must do's," "have to's," etc., which might deter a certain segment of the audience.

This is a good article differentiating between the Resume & C.V., but more interest is given to the Resume rather than the C.V. in detailing the same. Presently, the trend is that everyone asks for a C.V., even for a clerical job, as no employer knows what to ask. This gives an idea to employers about what to ask for, whether a C.V. or a Resume, in the future.

As far as I can recall, there is actually no difference between them. 'Curriculum Vitae' is a UK English version while 'resume' is a US English version. But both will contain the same content. Are there any more differences between the two? It will help if anyone can provide inputs.
