It would be better if the "to" date is also included, for example, from 01-07-1997 to 31-03-2009. This helps in fixing the age on a particular day before recruiting.
The problem without the "to" date is that if the system date is wrong, you would end up calculating the wrong date. Have you considered this?

However, I kindly request you to develop, if possible, a feature for calculating age "from date to date" (01/01/1980 to 30/06/2009). This would be helpful for gratuity calculation.
