Can someone please tell me if, as per the Maternity Benefit Act, there is a maximum no. of times a woman can take maternity leave? My company's Maternity Leave policy allows a woman employee to take maternity leave only twice, is that legal? what do most companies allow?

Dear Annie,
Our senior member Mr.Malik have already clarified that The Maternity Benefit Act, 1961 no where restricted us from taking maternity benefit for a particular number of children birth only. This can not be restricted for only two times. If it is so which section or rule say so.If this Act is applicable to the establishment/company then the matter may be brought to the notice of the law enforcing agency i.e.State Labour Department.
