Culture's literal meaning is how you cultivate or build oneself. Cultivate or build in multi-directionally, i.e., in ethically, socially, and in all aspects that lead to human development. Every culture is enriched with some good and bad features.

Indian culture is rich and diverse, and as a result, unique in its very own way. Our manners, way of communicating with one another, etc., are important components of our culture. Even though we have accepted modern means of living and improved our lifestyle, our values and beliefs remain unchanged. A person can change their way of clothing, way of eating, and living, but the rich values in a person always remain unchanged because they are deeply rooted within our hearts, mind, body, and soul, which we receive from our culture.

Western culture can also be referred to as advanced culture; this is because its ideas and values promote the development and sustainment of advanced civilization. Western culture has had quite an influence in India, but it has its pros and cons too. There are many good things in the Western culture which we have adopted. But why do we see only the negatives? Even the Indian culture has influenced the Western world. The globe is shrinking, and we are all getting closer to each other in many ways. So it's very natural for us to adopt their ways and for them to adopt ours.

Western culture has affected almost every dimension of society. The core religious traditions are still the same, but lifestyle differences can be found because of Western culture. Hence we can say that Western media has not affected the core traditions of Indian society but has changed lifestyle and apparent characteristics of the society.

Conclusion: Just as there is a head and tail for a coin, there are both positive and negative impacts of Western culture and Indian culture. I think both cultures are unique in their own way and equally good. Western culture and Indian culture both have good qualities and bad qualities. We should not think of which culture is better but should take the good qualities of both cultures and put them into use in our life.

Western culture and Indian culture both have good qualities and bad qualities. We should not think of which culture is better but should take the good qualities of both cultures and put them into use in our life.

This one sentence explains why Indian culture is better because it always has the flexibility to adopt any good thing found anywhere.

For me, as long as the culture is not doing any harm to a society, to a community, and to an individual, the culture is good enough. Whatever values it has, how much advance it is, the things which matter most are generosity, civilization, and the quality of excellence in thoughts and manners. All other values come from a society and from a group of individuals for which a culture cannot be blamed.

Very true, Kavi. I liked the way you said, "All other values come from a society and from a group of individuals for which a culture cannot be blamed."

As per me, we use the name "Culture" to hide behind outdated norms and evil traditions, which need to change as the society changes. We have a huge understanding gap. People in the villages are oblivious to what the people in the metros think and vice versa. Politicians use this as an excuse to get things done. We are not turning into 'Americans' (no offense); we are just trying to upgrade ourselves. No point in continuing the obsolete practices which would hurt the sentiments of others!

Hi abhi16march,

Why do you make Indian culture appear so down? Instead, you should be proud that you are an Indian, able to live among diverse people, religions, castes, races, and learn various things at once. In foreign countries, you may not have the same opportunity to learn as much. Life there might feel mechanical, with exposure to just one culture, one religion, and uniformity in everything.

Before harming your own country, consider all these factors. Here, people naturally communicate informally, yet there is love and care. In contrast, Westerners tend to be very formal, lacking the sweet and sour nuances in their speech.

Learn to love your country before exploring others.

Culture is something that is adaptable by anyone, but it should be taken care of so that it doesn't hurt anyone or have a negative impact on others.

Like today, many women have adopted Western culture. To some extent, there are positive qualities such as education, liberty, and career growth, among many others. However, there are also negative impacts such as smoking, dating, and more, which cannot be mentioned here.

Indian culture has many inherent restrictions, but when Western culture is adopted, certain restrictions should be implemented.

People do things differently in India. Indian business culture is the product of thousands of years of influence of Hinduism with an overlay of British Raj, Islam, and recent Western business systems. Here are some typical features of business culture in India: [The A - Z of Indian Business Culture](http://vnmanpower.com/en/the-a-z-of-indian-business-culture-part-1-bl200.html) Do you agree with them? Can we apply these rules to our business relationships?

  • Which culture, in your opinion, will survive in the long run? Individualism or togetherness? With togetherness, man is less likely to make a mistake and improve a lot to overcome challenges overall. Before one is grown, all logical explanations are not possible to give. Time teaches a lot through experience. Taking care of parents in their old age is the main difference, in my opinion. After all, Indian culture is the oldest and worth following with modern changes. The only thing India has never marketed itself.
